1. Introduction
This disclaimer explains the role of artificial intelligence in the TheraScript platform, operated by TheraScripts ("we", "us", "the Company").
TheraScript uses AI to help practitioners generate personalised therapeutic session scripts. This document sets out what the AI does, what it does not do, and where responsibility lies. It applies to all AI-generated content produced through the platform, including script text and audio files derived from that text.
This disclaimer should be read alongside our Terms of Service (particularly Section 6) and our Privacy Policy (particularly Section 13).
2. What TheraScript's AI Does
TheraScript uses large language model technology to generate session script text. Here is how the process works in plain terms:
- You configure a session — selecting the session type, approach, structure, and any personalisation options.
- The platform assembles a prompt — combining your configuration with anonymised client profile signals (derived from survey responses) and content from the TheraScript therapeutic module library.
- The AI generates script text — producing a draft session script based on the assembled prompt.
- You review the output — reading, editing, and approving the generated text before any use with a client.
- Optionally, audio is generated — the approved script text can be converted to an MP3 audio file using text-to-speech technology.
At every stage, you — the practitioner — are in control. The AI generates a draft. You decide what to use.
3. What TheraScript's AI Does Not Do
It is important to understand what the AI is not:
- It is not a therapist. The AI does not have a therapeutic relationship with your client. Only you do.
- It is not a diagnostic tool. The AI does not assess, diagnose, or evaluate your client's mental or physical health.
- It is not a replacement for clinical judgement. The AI cannot understand the nuances of your client's situation, history, or real-time emotional state.
- It does not provide clinical advice. The generated content is not a clinical recommendation, medical treatment plan, or professional opinion.
- It does not interact with clients. The AI generates content for you to review. It never communicates with your clients directly.
4. Practitioner Responsibility
As a qualified practitioner, you bear full responsibility for all content you use with your clients, including content generated through TheraScript.
Specifically, you are responsible for:
- Reviewing all generated content for clinical appropriateness, accuracy, and suitability before use.
- Modifying or rejecting content that is not appropriate for your client's specific needs, conditions, or circumstances.
- Ensuring suitability — confirming that the content aligns with your client's therapeutic goals, boundaries, and any contraindications.
- Delivering content in a manner consistent with your professional standards, duty of care, and the requirements of your professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, NCS, or equivalent).
- Exercising professional judgement at all times — the AI is a tool to support your practice, not to direct it.
Professional regulatory bodies expect practitioners to take responsibility for any tools they use in their practice. TheraScript is one such tool.
5. Limitations of AI-Generated Content
AI-generated content has inherent limitations that you should be aware of:
- It may be inaccurate. The AI can produce statements that are factually incorrect, clinically inappropriate, or misleading.
- It may be unsuitable. Content generated for one client profile may not be appropriate for another, even with similar survey responses.
- It cannot assess real-time state. The AI has no awareness of your client's current emotional, psychological, or physical condition at the time of a session.
- It may be repetitive or generic. Despite personalisation, AI-generated content may sometimes lack the specificity or nuance that your professional experience would bring.
- It reflects its training data. The AI's outputs are shaped by the data it was trained on, which may contain biases or gaps.
These limitations are why practitioner review is not optional — it is essential.
6. Clinical Outcomes
We do not guarantee the clinical efficacy, therapeutic effectiveness, or suitability of any content generated through the platform.
TheraScript is a professional tool designed to assist you in preparing session materials. The outcomes of any therapeutic session depend on many factors — your expertise, your client's individual circumstances, the therapeutic relationship, and the context of delivery — none of which the AI can control or predict.
You, as the practitioner, are solely responsible for the therapeutic outcomes of any session in which you use content generated through TheraScript. This is consistent with your professional obligations and Section 6 of our Terms of Service.
7. Data and Privacy
When you generate content through TheraScript:
- Client profile signals (derived from survey responses) are sent to our AI provider as part of the generation prompt. These are statistical signals and preference indicators, not directly identifying information.
- Client names may be included in prompts if you enable name personalisation. The name is used only for the immediate generation request.
- Our AI provider operates on a zero-retention basis — your prompts and outputs are not stored or used for model training.
For full details on how we handle data during AI generation, including audio generation, please see Section 13 of our Privacy Policy.
8. Copyright
Under UK law (Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, section 9(3)), the author of a computer-generated work is the person who made the arrangements necessary for its creation. For scripts generated through TheraScript, this is likely to be you — the practitioner who configured and initiated the generation.
Ownership of generated script text depends on your subscription tier:
- Pro and Studio subscribers — you own the script text you generate.
- Free tier users — script text is licensed to you for personal professional use only.
Audio files are licensed, not owned, regardless of subscription tier.
For full intellectual property and copyright terms, see Section 7 of our Terms of Service.
