Building Your First Session Script

Category: Training Guides Video duration: 7:15 Reading time: ~5 min

Overview

This guide accompanies the Building Your First Session Script video. It walks through the complete script creation workflow from configuring a new session to having an export-ready document.

1. Start from the dashboard

From the dashboard, click Build New Script. This launches the script intake wizard — a short multi-step form that gathers the information needed to generate your session.

2. The script intake wizard

The wizard walks through several steps:

Client — Select an existing client profile or create a new one. No client name is required; use a reference code or alias. Client profiles are not mandatory — you can generate a generic script without one, but a profile enables personalisation and safety routing.

Session goal — Describe the primary outcome for this session. Be specific: "Build confidence before a difficult conversation" produces a more focused script than "confidence." The goal is the primary signal used to select modules.

Therapeutic approach — Select up to three approaches: primary (required), secondary (optional), and tertiary (optional). Your workspace defaults are pre-selected. Override them here for this session if needed. Each approach card shows its language formality and metaphor density on progress bars so you can see how they differ.

Delivery mode — In-person, virtual, or self-guided audio. This determines which modules are eligible and how language is calibrated.

Session length — Short (~10 min), Standard (~20 min), or Full (~30 min).

3. Generate the script

Click Generate at the end of the wizard. Generation typically takes 15–30 seconds. The system builds a complete structured session:

  • Opening — An appropriate induction and settling section for the delivery mode
  • Deepener — A transition that deepens engagement
  • Therapeutic body — The main content modules targeted at the session goal
  • Close — A structured emergence returning the client to full alert state

Each module in the timeline shows a Why chosen indicator explaining its selection rationale.

4. Review and edit

Read through the script in the timeline view. You can:

  • Edit any text — click into any module section to edit the text inline
  • Remove a module — use the action menu on a module card to remove it. The system will warn you if removing a module creates a structural safety gap
  • Add a module — open the module library panel (filter by category: Introduction, Induction, Deepener, Relaxation, Therapeutic, Closing) and add modules to the timeline
  • Reorder modules — drag module cards within the timeline to adjust sequence

Changes are saved automatically as you edit.

5. Run the safety audit

When satisfied with the script, click Run Safety Audit from the review panel. The audit checks:

  • Contraindications against the client profile
  • Language appropriateness for the delivery mode
  • Structural integrity (opening and close present, arc coherent)

See Understanding the Safety Audit for how to read and respond to audit results.

Once the audit passes and you complete the attestation step, all enabled export formats become available.

6. Export

Click Export and choose your format:

  • PDF — for reading in-session or sharing with a supervisor (watermarked on Free tier)
  • DOCX — for further editing in Word (Pro and above)
  • Audio — professional MP3 generation (Pro and above) — see Exporting Audio Recordings
