1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the TheraScript platform uses, why we use them, and how you can manage them.
TheraScript is a web-based platform operated by TheraScripts ("we", "us", "the Company") that helps therapists and coaches build personalised therapeutic session scripts using AI-assisted generation.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data more broadly.
We are committed to being transparent about the technologies we use. TheraScript is a professional B2B tool that uses only the cookies necessary to operate the platform securely. We do not use advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking technologies.
2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve performance, and provide information to the site operator.
There are two main types:
- Session cookies — temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — cookies that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
Similar technologies include:
- Local Storage — a browser feature that allows websites to store data on your device persistently, similar to cookies but with more storage capacity. Unlike cookies, Local Storage data is not sent to the server with each request.
- Session Storage — similar to Local Storage, but the data is cleared when you close the browser tab.
Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, known as PECR), the rules that apply to cookies also apply to these similar technologies.
3. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies in three categories:
| Category | Consent Required? | Currently Used? |
|---|---|---|
| Essential — required for the platform to function | No | Yes |
| Functional — support your use of platform features | No | Yes |
| Analytics — help us understand platform usage | Yes | No |
TheraScript does not use any advertising, retargeting, or tracking cookies.
4. Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the platform to operate. Without them, you would not be able to log in, stay authenticated, or use TheraScript securely. Because they are essential, they do not require your consent under PECR, but we list them here for transparency.
| Cookie / Technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
__clerk_* / __session |
Clerk | Authentication session management — keeps you logged in to your account | Session / up to 7 days | First-party (set by Clerk JS SDK) |
__client_uat |
Clerk | Client-side user active token — tracks whether you have an active session | Session | First-party |
| CSRF tokens | Next.js / Vercel | Cross-site request forgery protection — prevents malicious sites from making requests on your behalf | Session | First-party |
_vercel_jwt |
Vercel | Deployment protection and preview access (used in development and staging environments only) | Session | First-party |
Why these cannot be disabled: If you block these cookies, you will not be able to log in to TheraScript or use any authenticated features of the platform.
5. Functional Cookies
These cookies and similar technologies support your use of platform features. They remember your preferences so you do not have to set them each time you visit.
| Cookie / Technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Convex session data | Convex | Maintains the real-time database connection that powers TheraScript's live features | Session | First-party |
| Local Storage items | TheraScript | Stores UI preferences such as sidebar state, audio player position, and theme selection | Persistent (until cleared) | First-party |
These are integral to the service and do not require consent under PECR, as they are necessary for a feature you have explicitly requested.
6. Analytics Cookies
TheraScript does not currently use any analytics cookies.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party analytics or tracking service.
If we introduce analytics cookies in the future, we will:
- Update this policy to list the specific cookies used.
- Obtain your consent before setting any analytics cookies.
- Provide a clear way for you to accept or decline them.
7. Third-Party Cookies
TheraScript does not set third-party advertising or tracking cookies. We do not embed social media widgets, advertising networks, or retargeting pixels.
However, the following third-party services set cookies as part of delivering the TheraScript platform:
- Clerk (authentication) — sets the essential authentication cookies listed in Section 4. These are first-party cookies set through Clerk's JavaScript SDK running on the TheraScript domain. Clerk does not use these cookies to track you across other websites.
- Vercel (hosting) — may set deployment protection cookies in development and staging environments. In the production environment, Vercel does not set tracking cookies.
Both services process data in accordance with their own privacy policies and under our contractual data processing agreements. For details on how we manage sub-processors, see our Privacy Policy (Section 6) and our Data Processing Agreement.
8. How to Manage Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Each browser handles this differently — here is general guidance for the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome — Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari — Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge — Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data
You can also:
- Delete all cookies from your browser at any time.
- Set your browser to block all cookies or to notify you when a cookie is being set.
- Use your browser's developer tools to inspect which cookies and Local Storage items are set by any website.
Important: If you block or delete the essential cookies listed in Section 4, you will not be able to log in to TheraScript. The platform requires authentication cookies to function.
To clear Local Storage items set by TheraScript, you can use your browser's developer tools (typically found under Application > Local Storage) or clear all site data for therascript.com through your browser settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in applicable law.
- For material changes (such as introducing a new category of cookies), we will provide notice via email, consistent with the notice approach described in Section 15 of our Privacy Policy.
- For minor or clarifying changes, we will update this page and revise the "Effective Date" at the top.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
